Want to learn more about what your professors do for research? Interested in doing research with a professor but unsure where to start? Open Lab Day is the perfect opportunity for you! Stop by the Talbot Lounge (220) to get some refreshments and a map to different professor's labs. Some featured sights include virtual reality goggles and the HIDRA fusion device. There will also be grad students there to show you around, teach you about their research, and tell how to get involved!

Volunteers are needed to assist in the student lounge to help direct traffic and provide directions. They will sign-in attendees, distribute information, and help guide to the labs. Sign-up here

New Nuclear Group on Campus


"Ultraviolet, X-ray, Gamma Sensory Engineering, or U.X.G. Sensory Engineering, is a small multidivisional student organization aimed at developing detection and sensory technology for medical and security applications. Originating at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, the organization, composed of academics ranging from undergraduates to doctoral candidates, works towards creating multi-module, upgradeable, and easy to use detection devices for specialized applications."
They will have a representative at the next general meeting to offer more explanation as to their mission statement, goals, and overall role in nuclear. More here: uxg.engr.illinois.edu/

At your earliest convenience, please either visit the website or track down Treasurer Siobhan Fox to pay your membership dues. They are $10 per semester, $20 for the full academic year.
Dues help us fund events and brag about our active size; they are also the only way you can be considered an official member of the organization.

Oak Ridge National Lab Trip

As a follow up to Dr. Lauren Garrison's visit to campus, we have been invited to ORNL early next semester for a radiological and materials oriented trip. More information to come as the date approaches! There will be a $20 security deposite required upon sign-up which will be promptly returned once you have boarded the transportation vehicle.

New Nuclear Group on Campus


"Ultraviolet, X-ray, Gamma Sensory Engineering, or U.X.G. Sensory Engineering, is a small multidivisional student organization aimed at developing detection and sensory technology for medical and security applications. Originating at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, the organization, composed of academics ranging from undergraduates to doctoral candidates, works towards creating multi-module, upgradeable, and easy to use detection devices for specialized applications."
They will have a representitive at the next general meeting to offer more explanation as to their mission statement, goals, and overall role in nuclear. More here: uxg.engr.illinois.edu/

If you would like to attend the Nuclear Advocacy Workshop during nuclear science week, please RSVP using this form. The purpose of this workshop is to inform members on the current state of nuclear power in Illinois and how we as ANS members can better communicate the benefits of nuclear to help the industry grow.
You must attend if you plan on participating in the Advocacy Quad Booth.
There will be milk and cookies!
